MOUND CITY – Next week’s Linn County Commission meeting will be held on Monday, Oct. 28, at 9 a.m. – in the morning instead of having an evening meeting.

At the meeting on Monday, Oct. 21, the commissioners realized that there was an interview with a job candidate scheduled for the morning next week, so instead of having the meeting in the evening it will be held in the morning.

At the July 15 meeting, the commissioners decided to do a trial run of having an evening meeting on the last Monday of the month for the next three months to see how that worked. The meeting on Sept. 30 was the last of those meetings.

Commission Chair Danny McCullough asked if the other commissioners wanted to continue that. He said that he didn’t feel like he had a lot of opinion on it since he was on his way out.

Commissioner Jason Hightower said he would rather just keep going with the day meetings.

Commissioner Jim Johnson said that he did not care and they could just stay where they were at until the new commission comes in and decide then.

McCullough said that personally he liked the evening meetings because of the involvement and asked if the other commissioners wanted to continue it for the next few months.

County Clerk David Lamb had said several times at previous meetings that he was not in favor of the evening meetings.

Next week, the commissioners will reevaluate the evening meetings to see whether they will continue them.
