Scissors were snipping, brushes were painting and glue guns were . . . well, you get it. That was the scene on Tuesday evening at the Pleasanton Elementary School as about 65 students along with their parents, grandparents or guardians spread out on the gym floor to make art.

It was the annual family art night that encouraged the kids and their adults to put their creative juices to work. Art teacher Julie Laver and her students from Pleasanton High School, many of them donning funny hats, helped the young artists at each table.

Making sock puppets, creating picture frames, making decorated masks, making tie-dyed t-shirts were included in the activities along with painting with water colors and drawing.
