Completion of Road 1095 repairs delayed as much as two weeks

LA CYGNE – A contractor working to replace culverts on County Road 1095 near the intersection of 2075th Road inadvertently crushed three of the four culverts in the first phase of the project.

While the damaged culverts were replaced by last Friday, Aug. 21, new culverts will need to be ordered for the second phase of the project.

Since the large culverts are custom made, it could take at least two weeks before they are delivered, J.D. Handly, public works director for Linn County, told the Linn County Commission on Monday, Aug. 24.

The paved road, which connects La Cygne with the Tanglewood Lakes development as well as points south to Mound City, has been out of commission since early August and now appears to be closed until nearly mid-September.

In addition to being an inconvenience for area residents, the delayed opening of the road is also expected to conflict with schedule with repaving the repair.
