County planners to hold hearing on new zoning regulations, map

ree

MOUND CITY – The Linn County Planning Commission has scheduled a public hearing on proposed land-use regulations and zoning map at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, at the Prairie View High School Performing Arts Center, 13731 Kansas Highway 7.

The public will be able to offer comments and ask questions on the proposed zoning and subdivision regulations and zoning map.

Copies of the proposed regulations and zoning map are available for public inspection at the office of the Planning and Zoning Administrator, at 306 Main Street, Mound City. Copies of a summary of the key features of the proposed regulations can also be picked up at that office, and the summary and proposed regulations are also available on Linn County’s website www.linncountyks.com.

The proposed regulations and map are the result of considerable effort and study by the Linn County Planning Commission and zoning administrator.

As part of this effort, the Planning Commission proposes a new zoning map for the public’s consideration. This map indicates the proposed zoning of land in the unincorporated areas of Linn County.

The public is invited and encouraged to review the proposed regulations and map and to attend the April 27 public hearing to hear a summary of the proposals, ask questions and offer suggestions and request changes for the planning commission’s consideration.

The role of the planning commission is only to make recommendations to the board of county commissioners. The proposed regulations and map will have no effect unless and until adopted by the Linn County Commission.
