Osawatomie, Kansas

Crystal Dawn Alarcon, age 43, of Osawatomie, Kansas, passed away Friday, September 4, 2026.

Crystal was born on August 8, 1983, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, to Larry Raymond Rhoades and Pamela Jean Ferry. She grew up in Osawatomie and attended schools within the Osawatomie School District.

Crystal’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, fiancé, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She was the proud mother of Destanie, Logan, Savannah, and Kyler. Crystal gained two bonus children Ivan and Lola and she treasured the time she spent with her grandson, Ziaer. Crystal especially loved being called “Mimi.” Her family was truly her world.

Throughout her life, Crystal worked hard and dedicated herself to serving others. She spent 15 years distributing the Kansas City Star newspapers alongside her family. She also worked at a daycare in Paola for eight years, at Eye Care Associates in Paola for seven years, and as a nutritional aide for the Head Start program in Osawatomie for five years. Most recently, she worked at Grin Eye Care.

Crystal had a heart for people and was always there when someone needed her. She had a way of showing up for everyone around her—even if she was sometimes running a little late. Her presence, her laughter, and her willingness to help others will be deeply missed.

In her free time, Crystal enjoyed fishing and listening to worship music. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and cherished the simple moments with the people she loved most. Her children will always remember the comfort of her chicken noodle soup and the love that went into everything she did for them. She was a member of Living Proof Church in Paola.

Crystal was preceded in death by her father, Larry Rhoades; grandmother, Dolores Martinez; brothers, Josh Rhoades and Josh Blick; and infant sister, Lisa Rhoades.

She is survived by her children, Destanie Alarcon, Logan Alarcon, Savannah Alarcon, and Kyler Fultz; Ivan Martinez and Lola Ruby; her grandson, Ziaer Meadows; her fiancé, Brandon Ruby; her mother, Pam Alexander, and Richard Alexander; brother Isaac and Rachel Rhoades; sister Erica and Mike Kriesel; brother Kevin and Shelley Alexander; sister Candace Blick; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who loved her dearly.

Crystal leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a love that will continue to live on through her family. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by all who knew her.

Memorials are to the Crystal Alarcon Memorial Fund.
