Dan Rhodes, 73, of Blue Mound, Kansas, died on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at his home.  Dan was born May 17, 1950, in Oswego, Kansas to William Harold and Naomi Irene (Best) Rhodes.  Dan was a junker and worked as an operator in recycling for a number of years.


On May 16, 2020, Dan married his longtime sweetheart, Irene Bresee in Blue Mound.  Dan enjoyed hunting, fishing and guns.  But his favorite activity was a good visit.  


Dan was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Billy Chapman; grandson, Wesley Freeman; and granddaughter, Gavonn Burk.

Survivors include his sweetheart of 30 years, Irene; two sons, Chad Hartman and Danny Rhodes; 6 daughters, Mary Watson, Lauretta Bresee, Stephanie Freeman, Stacy Rhodes-Hall, Tina Thomas, and Sharon McCully; two sisters and their husbands, Nancy and Don Hodges and Betsy and Greg Kyser; 19 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and a host of extended family and friends.


A Celebration of Life service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Blue Mound Bible Church, Blue Mound, Kansas.  Visitation will be at the church from 1:00 p.m. until service time.  Contributions to help defray funeral costs may be mailed to Schneider Funeral Home, PO Box J, Mound City, Kansas 66056.  Friends and family may leave on line condolences at www.schneiderfunerals.com.
