Daniel Lee Stwalley

Daniel Lee Stwalley, 82, of Wichita, Kansas, formerly of Frontenac, Kansas, died at 11:58 P.M. December 13, 2025, at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital at Wichita, Kansas.


Mr. Stwalley was born October 30, 1943, in Mulberry, Kansas, the son of George Daniel and Reba Reva Radford Stwalley. Dan attended Mulberry Grade School and Mulberry High School where he was an outstanding athlete and played football and basketball. He later attended Pittsburg State University and received both Bachelor's (1965) and Master’s degrees (1970). He also attended Emporia State University receiving his Administration Degree.


He first was a teacher and coach at Uniontown, Kansas, in 1965 for four years. He next taught at Prairie View Junior and Senior High at La Cygne as a teacher-coach then as Principal. He remained at Prairie View until retiring after 30 years. He was most proud of teaching students, family, and honesty. The 1970 football team was always close to his heart.


He lived in La Cygne and Frontenac until 1999 where he moved to help his aging Mother and Father. In 2006 he moved to Wichita to help care for his grandchildren and later moved back to Frontenac in 2016. He married Margaret E. McGraw on May 28, 1966. Mrs. Stwalley survives at the home. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac, Kansas.


Survivors include his wife, Margaret of the home; three sons, Dean Allan Stwalley of Wichita, Douglas Michael Stwalley of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, and Dustin Lee Stwalley of St. Louis, Missouri; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents George Daniel and Reba Reva Radford Stwalley; a son, Daniel Eugene Stwalley; a brother, Glen William (Bunk) Stwalley; and three sisters, Linda Sue Stwalley, Reva Rojean Ward, and Amelia Ann Casino.


Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 A.M. Thursday, December 18, 2025, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac, Kansas, with Father Josh Evans as the Celebrant. Burial will be at the Englevale Cemetery at Englevale, Kansas.  The family suggests memorials to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac, Kansas.  Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, Kansas 66712.
