David Leslie Nation, age 56, Mound City, Kansas, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2025. He was born on February 14, 1968 in Fort Scott, Kansas, the son of Melvin and Carol Johnson Nation. He graduated from Jayhawk Linn High School in the Class of 1986.


David was a self employed heavy equipment contractor. He enjoyed horseback riding, camping, drag racing and tractor pulling. But the light of his eye were his two grandkids, Claire and Hayes.


He was preceded in death by a daughter, Leslie Nation; his parents, Melvin and Carol; and a sister, Janice Nation. David is survived by his wife, Tracie; three children, Brennan Simpson (Madie), Jill Nation, and Hannah Nation; two sisters, Gina Clark (Brad), and Virginia Maring (Ron); two grandchildren, Claire and Hayes Simpson; and Uncle and Aunt, L.D. and Ruth Nation. 


Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, January 17, 2025, at the Mound City Christian Church. Burial will be in the Linville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to service time at the Church. Memorial contributions are suggested to Linn County Care to Share. Online condolences can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com
