Drexel man injured in single vehicle accident

LA CYGNE – A 21-year-old Drexel, Mo., man received injuries following a single vehicle accident on Kansas Highway 7 near the Keitel Road intersection shortly after midnight on Tuesday, June 11.

The 2004 Lincoln Brandon Newson was allegedly driving was traveling north on Kansas Highway 7 when it ran of the road to the right, jumped a driveway, went airborne, rolled, went airborne, rolled, and became airborne again before landing on its wheels nearly 700 feet from the point it left the roadway.


According to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office report, Newson was able to exit the vehicle and was on the side of the road when Deputy Klayton Parscale arrived on the scene about 14 minutes after the accident occurred.


The report said Newsom had injuries to his face. The report also said the victim had apparently consumed alcoholic beverages and admitted that to the deputy. Newsom, who was alone in the vehicle when the accident occurred, was taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center by ambulance.
