After starting the season 2-0 and completely dominating their opponents, the Prairie View football team came crashing back to Earth on Friday, Sept. 20. The Wellsville Eagles knocked the Buffalos from the ranks of the unbeaten 35-20.
Buffalo junior Parker Schwarz was the headliner coming into the game as the state's leading rusher. However,
Mill Valley transfer Armando Graves stole the show with 135 yards rushing and three touchdowns for the Eagles.
Wellsville started the scoring with a methodical drive that ended in 6 points. Prairie View answered immediately, when Schwarz took a dive play for 69 yards, right up the middle. Wellsville scored again the second quarter and halftime was 13-6 in favor of the home team.
After halftime, the Buffaloes secured a turnover at the 3 yard line, stymieing a potential scoring drive for the Eagles. Junior quarterback Wyatt Atteberry, taking over for the injured starter Jay Muse, threw a school record 97-yard touchdown bomb to senior wide receiver Joe Sramek. It was the longest pass in the state this weekend.
