Fire and ambulance reports for week ending Feb. 24

MOUND CITY – The Linn County Commissioners heard reports from the ambulance and fire department services on Mon., Feb. 24.

Fire Chief Randy Hegwald’s report showed that there had been 16 calls for the past week. Ten were rescue and emergency medical service incidents, four were fires and two were service calls. 

Hegwald said that it had been a busy week for the firefighters, especially for how cold it was. He said that there were three structure fires and one required the firefighters to follow up and put out some hot spots. 

One of the fires had been a wildland fire, four of the emergency calls were for vehicle crashes and several EMS assists. The two service calls were investigations for the structure fires. 

Hegwald reminded the commissioners that the Centerville station will be hosting a chili feed March 1 at 6 p.m. for a free will donation. They are doing this to raise funds to help buy coolers for their trucks to keep their water cool and stuff.

American Medical Response (AMR) Operations Manager Dawn Brooks gave the month to date ambulance reports from Feb. 1 through Feb. 23. There have been a total of 87 calls resulting in 47 transports. The average response time is 15 minutes 6 seconds.

• Centerville, 7 calls, 0 transports

• Greeley, 0 calls, 0 transports

 • La Cygne, 14 calls, 5 transports 

• Fontana, 0 calls, 0 transports

• Lane, 0 calls, 0 transports

` • Linn Valley, 5 calls, 4 transports

• Rich Hill, 0 calls, 0 transports

• Mound City, 17 calls, 12 transports

• Parker, 3 calls, 1 transport 

• Pleasanton, 25 calls, 18 transports

• Prescott, 5 calls, 4 transports

Response numbers and times for this time period by Commission Districts are:

District 1 - 22 responses, 10 transports, 12 minutes 59 seconds average response time

District 2 - 33 responses, 23 transports, 11 minutes 38 seconds average response time
