For fans of the Harry Potter books and films, for fans of magic and fantasy, and for fans of enjoyable comedy, the Prairie View High School’s theater department will present “Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic” on Thursday evening, Feb. 15, at 7 p.m. at the school’s Performing Arts Center.

Although not an authorized retelling of the Harry Potter series, the play authored by New York playwright Max Cox looks into the lives of the Huffs as they attend a school of wizardry and magic. The Huffs are loosely based on the underappreciated Hogwarts house of the Hufflepuffs in the Potter series.

Running off-Broadway for three years, the play received warm acceptance by Potter fans.

The New York Times said “Puffs” was, “A fast-paced romp through the 'Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic.' For Potterphiliacs who grew up alongside Potter and are eager to revisit that world, Puffs exudes a jovial, winking fondness for all things Harry!”

The Thursday evening show will be the only performance open to the public. The play is directed by PVHS drama teacher Austin Pixton, and the technical director is Jeffery Russell.

The magic behind the scenes is created by the production crew members, which include from left, Sequoia Locklear, Jacob Law, Elizabeth Godfrey, Cecilia Brockway, Mary Ryan, and Rylan McCrea.
