Friends, relatives attend retirement fête for Pam Cannon

On Friday afternoon, Feb. 28, dozens of county workers, relatives and friends attended a reception for Pam Cannon, head of the GIS/Mapping department. Cannon retired after working for the county for 29 years, first in the Appraiser's Office before branching off the create the mapping department.


Shaun West, county public works administrator, presented Cannon with a plaque commemorating her service. He those gathered that Cannon had eduated him on the importance of maps, and he thanked her for both her service to the county and for her passing her knowledge along to him.


Guests at the reception were asked to sign a replica "plat map" that was surrounded by the several awards Cannon has received during her career.

A bouquet of 29 roses, one for every year of Cannon's service, were placed on the refreshment table.
