Jackie "Jack"  Howard Shroyer, age 85 of Prescott, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025.  Jack was born the son of Eugene and Lillie Ruth (Blangy) Shroyer on January 24, 1940, in Prescott, Kansas.  He graduated from Prescott High School.  


He married the love of his life, Elaine Post on May 28, 1961 in Prescott, Kansas, the were married for fifty-seven years, she preceded him in death on February 21, 2019. Jack worked for the Linn County Highway Department as a mechanic for thirty-two years.


Jack was well known for his guitar playing and had continued playing up until two weeks ago. Jack and his friends had a band over the years called "War Party" and played various venues around the area.  Jack was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Cheryl Shroyer, and a brother, Kenneth Shroyer.  Jack is survived by his son Gary Shroyer and wife Kelly; grandchildren, Nicole Burns and husband Patrick, Brian Shroyer and wife, Melissa; and four great grandchildren, Taylor and Jordyn Burns, Brynna and Howie Shroyer.  He was a loved husband, dad and grandpa and will be greatly missed.


Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 9, at the Prescott United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, September 8, at the Schneider Funeral Home, Pleasanton, Kansas.  Burial will follow in the Prescott Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to M.A.D.D. (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers) and may be sent in care of Schneider Funeral Home P.O. Box 525 Pleasanton, Kansas 66075.  Online condolences may be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.
