The Jayhawk Elementary School band performed in a concert on Monday, Dec. 8, in an event that featured both the fifth-grade musicians, followed by the sixth-grade band, and finally a combined performance.
Directed by band teacher Rachel Wilson, the fifth-grade musicians performed 13 tunes that showed their mastery of essential elements. The tunes included Christmas classics including “Jolly Ol’ Saint Nick,” “Up on a Housetop,” “Jingle Bells,” and other non-holiday classics like “Merrily Roll Along” and “Skip to My Lou.”

In introducing the sixth-grade band, Wilson asked the audience to note how those musicians had progressed in their musicianship. Sixth-graders performed five numbers, including “Elves That Rock,” “Do You Hear What I Hear?” and “African Noel.”
