Press release

MOUND CITY — Jayhawk-Linn High School senior Eleanor Vaughn as the recipient of the highly competitive Rudd Foundation Scholarship. She was honored in a surprise ceremony on Thursday, Feb. 12, that was attended by students, staff, and her family

Vaughn, who plans to attend Kansas State University in the fall to pursue a degree in speech pathology, was selected as one of only 50 scholars from a pool of approximately 700 applicants statewide.

The Rudd Foundation Scholarship is a renewable, four-year award that covers any remaining cost of attendance after other financial aid and scholarships are applied. Covered expenses include tuition and fees, books and supplies, and room and board.

By removing financial barriers to higher education, the scholarship empowers recipients to achieve excellence in college and prepare to become leaders in their professions and communities.

Jayhawk-Linn High School celebrates Eleanor’s achievement and looks forward to the positive impact she will make in the future.

K-State representatives Jessica Loera, left, KC Metro Outreach coordinator and Graciela Berument, assistant director of college access and community outreach were at the ceremony to celebrate Vaughn's award.
