Jayhawk-Linn to crown two at homecoming ceremony

Monday begins homecoming week at Jayhawk-Linn High School. Following a week of spirit activities, the weeklong celebration will end on Friday with a homecoming parade down Main Street in Mound City followed by crowning the 2026 Homecoming queen and king that evening.

The parade begins at 1:40 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2, and will travel east on Main Street to the Mound City Amphitheater just east of the Main and Fifth streets intersection for a pep rally at 2 p.m.

Later on Friday, the crowning of the queen and king will take place at 6:30 p.m. at Jayhawk stadium prior to the football game against Fredonia.

Activities during homecoming week include:

• Monday: Name tag day, students are asked to wear a name tag and include something about themselves. Example: "Hi, I'm ___________, and I like dogs."

• Tuesday: Time Travel Tuesday. Dress up from any era.

• Wednesday: Class Clash Day. Each class will decide – within school dress code policy – what students will wear that day.

• Thursday: Grannies and Grandpas Day

• Friday: Red Out Day. Wear school colors or anything red.
