MOUND CITY – Jayhawk-Linn senior Callie Holt, team libero notched her 1,000th career dig in front of a home crowd as the Jayhawks easily downed Southern Coffey County at home on Thursday, Oct. 10. That win, plus the 2-0 win over Marmaton Valley, put the Jayhawks’ record at 17-7 going into a tournament at St. Mary’s-Colgan on Saturday, Oct. 12.
In the match against Southern Coffey County at home, junior Brenlyn Bogan had four kills and two aces, and juniors Brilyn Bogan and Piper Grote had a kill apiece. Junior Kiera McGrew had three blocks and an ace.
The Jayhawks record against Colgan going into Saturday’s game at Pittsburg was 2-7 in the teams last nine outings against the Panthers. The match didn’t start well with the Jayhawks losing the first set, 14-25.
But the team bounced back, winning the second and third sets, 25-18 and 25-20. However, the Jayhawks dropped the two matches against Nevada and one against Fort Scott. The Jayhawks won two matches against Heritage Christian Academy. The tournament left the Jayhawks’ season record at 19-9 going into Tuesday’s match against South Coffey County and Yates Center.
