WICHITA – Of the three teams that Linn County sent to the state track and field championship meet on Friday, the Jayhawk-Linn team sent the most athletes. Both the men’s and women’s teams finished in third place at regionals, with several athletes earning a trip to the Class 2A state games in Wichita.

Three of the men made the podium for individual medals, and the men’s 4x100 meter relay team also placed. On the women’s team, no one won medals but two of the competitors came very close.

Sophomore Trenton Broyles took fifth place in the 300-meter hurdles race with a top 50 time of 41.28 seconds.

The men’s team garnered enough points to place 23rd in the 2A division.

The team of Kiera McGrew, Adeline Randall, Gia Schneider and Cynthia Cazares competed in the 4x100 meter relay.
