Julia 'Ginger' Gardner

June 28, 1940 – March 19, 2026

Julia Pearl (Ginger) Gardner, 85, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away March 19, 2026.


Ginger was born on June 28, 1940 in Kansas City, Kansas. She was the daughter of David E. Bloodgood Sr. and Dorothy (Nora) Bloodgood. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert M. Gardner; daughter Denise R Zuniga; son Delbert (Charlie) Douglas Jr.; and brother David Bloodgood Jr.


She is survived her son Richard (Rick) Douglas and his wife, Roxie. She leaves behind eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and three sisters – Edie Clark (Harvey Bernstein), Dottie Greer (Gerald), and Kay Buck (Henry).


Ginger had a variety of different job titles from mom, caretaker, teller, cook to bar owner. She loved planting gardens and flowers, fishing and hosting family and friends at their lake house.


A celebration of life for Ginger will be held Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the Fairfield Inn Sunflower Room 1925 N. 98 St., Kansas City, Kansas.  All friends, family, and caregivers are welcome to come by and share memories between noon and 4 p.m.
