LA CYGNE – A Miami County juvenile was taken into custody at home on Thursday, Aug. 24, after allegedly making a threat against the Prairie View USD 362 on social media. According to authorities, the juvenile was a former Prairie View student.

In a press release, Linn County Sheriff Kevin Friend said that his office was notified about 12:30 p.m. about the threat. After receiving the threat the district activated its lockdown protocol and notified parents of the threat.

“The subject who made the threat was never on campus and was contained a short time later at their home in Miami County,” the sheriff said, adding that the lockdown was then lifted.

Friend said that because the suspect was a juvenile, the identity of the subject was not being released.
