Katherine Speaks Fowler, age 73, of Osawatomie, Kansas, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2026, at her home.

Katherine was born October 1, 1953, in Odessa, Texas. She was one of two daughters born to Doyle and Lela Juhree (Petty) Speaks. She grew up in Dallas, Texas, where she attended Woodrow Wilson High School.

On July 18, 1972, Katherine married John Charles Fowler in Oklahoma. Together, they built a life and raised two daughters, Kathleen and Angela. In 2000, they moved from Atlanta, Georgia, to Osawatomie, Kansas, where they made their home.

Katherine worked for Sprint for a number of years before retiring in 2000 when she and John moved to Kansas. She later returned to the workforce, joining TransAm Trucking, where she worked for nearly 20 years. She retired in 2019 from her position as a Senior Financial Advisor.

In her free time, Katherine enjoyed crocheting, cross-stitching, and crafting. She was an avid reader who enjoyed a wide variety of books, from the Bible to mystery novels. Katherine was also a wonderful cook, and her homemade pumpkin pies were especially memorable. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life and the time spent doing the things she loved.

Katherine was preceded in death by her daughter, Angela Fowler; her parents, Doyle and Lela Speaks; and her sister, Donna Light.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, John Fowler, of the home; her daughter, Kathleen Fowler; her aunt, Margaret Key; four grandchildren, Hiram Fowler, Owen Fowler, Paige Fowler, and Damon McGreevy; and one great-grandson, Aiden McGreevy.

Katherine will be remembered for the life she shared with her family, her many talents, and the love she expressed through the things she created and the meals she prepared.

Memorial service is scheduled for 11 am October 24, 2026 at First Baptist Church of Osawatomie.
