Kyle Robert Coleman

May 31, 1986 - February 3, 2024

Kyle Robert (Toad) Coleman, age 37, Fontana, Kansas, passed away Saturday February 3, 2024. He was born on May31, 1986, in Clinton, Missouri, the son of Terry D. Coleman and Susan K. Coleman. He graduated Prairie View High School in 2005. Following high school, he entered into a five-year apprenticeship and became a Sprinkler Fitter by trade.

Kyle and Nina R. (Dees) Coleman were united in marriage in 2009. They met in 2005 at the Miami County Truck Pull and he was so dark from his summer tan that she thought he was Mexican. To this union two children were born, Ross Coleman and Corbyn Coleman. This marriage later ended in an amicable divorce.  Kyle & Meaghan began dating April 2019 and became engaged in February 2022.

Kyle proudly served his community as a member of the Fontana Fire Department, joining in September 2008 and working his way up from Probie to Captain. Capt. Coleman # 712 worked alongside many of his friends and family over the years, including his dad Terry Coleman (R), former wife Lt. Nina Shelton and very close friend Acting Chief Brandon Ream.

Kyle was also on the Fontana City Council serving as a Council member from 2018-2022.

Kyle was proud of his sons and enjoyed spending time with them, working on his old pick-up trucks, he had given the boys, Ross getting “The 71” which they recently got fired-up and both were ecstatic. Corbyn getting the 2006 Silver GMC Sierra, they were both looking forward to rebuilding.

Kyle was a hard-working man who was always there to lend a hand with whatever was needed.  He was always willing to pitch in, from helping a buddy lay new flooring or just tinkering in their garage.

Kyle loved to host get togethers at his place and didn’t need a reason to have a shindig. He was a master on the Blackstone, making the best Philly-cheese steaks around, and his enchiladas weren’t bad either. He enjoyed riding his Razor on trails and giving rides around town, even installing a child harness so little Dennis could ride along with his Ky-Ky. Float trips and camping were also some of his most enjoyable past times.  Everyone who knew him will have their own story that starts “That one time when” and it will be a tale to tell.

Kyle is survived by his two sons, Ross and Corbyn Coleman; fiancé Megahan Ann Wildes and son Dennis Seib; parents Terry D. Coleman and Susan K. Coleman; two brothers Aron K. Coleman and sister-in-law April Coleman, Jason Steward and Katie Bannon; nephew Aron James Coleman and honorary nieces Kiarra Bannon and Kendra Bannon. Other surviving family members include grandmother Tomacene Osullivan; Aunt Chris Rossman, husband Mike; Aunt Carol Hartner, husband Mike; step-grandmother Margaret Coleman; and many cousins. Best friends Brandon Ream, Brett Jenkins, James Ashbaugh, David Grubb, Richard Horton and Davey Jo Monteil. He will be missed by his loyal dog, Titon and his floppy eared bunny Jasper.

Preceding him in death were his paternal grandfather Robert Coleman, maternal grandfather Forrest “Bud” Neal and grandmother Ellen Laverne Neal. Uncle Gary Neal and older sister Susan Janelle Steward.

Celebration of life at a later date.
