LA CYGNE – A La Cygne man sustained possibly seriously injuries on Tuesday, Aug. 6, when the tractor he was driving was struck from behind by a semi-tractor hauling a trailer on U.S. Highway 69 about a half mile south of the Kansas Highway 152 exit.

A report by the Kansas Highway Patrol said that Jeffery Daniel Thoele, 59, was driving his New Holland tractor pulling a hay rake at a slow speed in the righthand lane traveling southbound on U.S. 69. A 2020 Freightliner road tractor driven by 52-year-old Christopher Scott Drake of Sikeston, Mo., ran into the back of Thoele’s rig. The collision caused Thoele’s tractor to overturn.

Thoele was taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. Drake was not injured in the accident.
