LA CYGNE – Originally slated to open this Saturday, May 30, the La Cygne city swimming pool now won’t open until sometime the following week because of needed repairs that became evident as workers were preparing the pool for the summer season.
Pool manager Angie Goodwin said she hoped the pool would be open by Wednesday, June 3.
But City Clerk Jodi Wade said that all depended on the weather. The project needs warm dry weather for the concrete to cure and the paint to dry, and with rain in the forecast Thursday through Sunday that could delay the opening.
Despite the delays in opening the pool for swimming, the pool will be open on Monday, June 1, from 9 a.m. to noon to take reservations and payments for swim lessons and pool rentals. If reservations have been made online, payment must be reserved to secure the spot.
According to city officials, pool workers found a gap between a section of the stainless steel gutter and the gunite walls of the pool. The city hired the pool contractor to make the repairs, which involves pouring concrete and repainting the surface.
Below are copies of both sides of the informational flyer for the pool.
