Weiner dog races at the pickleball courts will be a new activity this year. The races, sponsored by Debra Wilson, begin at 6 p.m. If you've never experienced a wiener dog race, these are a lot of fun and completely unpredictable.

Also beginnng at 6 p.m. are a host of activities including sack races, cornhole games, bounce houses, and an egg toss. Craft vendors and information booths also open at this time as well as several food vendors.
Around 9 p.m., the fireworks show begins, and it's expected to be the best only fireworks show in the county until the Jaybawk Blast on Sept. 12 in Mound City.'
Entry to the show is free, although donations are accepted. A warning that if the rain that moves through on Friday is heavy, parking close in could be scarce. Event planners are working out details for alternative parking in case the fields are too muddy.
