Lance Robert Minchew

July 26, 1971 — April 24, 2026

Callisburg, Texas

Lance Robert Minchew, 54, died peacefully in his home April 24, 2026 in Callisburg Texas, after a four-year battle with cancer.

Lance was born July 26, 1971, in Fort Scott, Kan., to Robert and Leatrice Minchew. He retired after 20 years of service in the U.S. Navy in October 2016. He married Michele Minchew on Feb. 16, 2013, in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he served most of his military career. Lance and Michele moved to Denison, Texas, after a one-month road trip shortly after his retirement.

He did not raise them but thought of Michele’s adult children as his own and was very fond of his grandchildren who will probably best remember him for the “tractor” rides. In his spare time, he enjoyed working in his shop working with wood, a craft he learned from his dad, Robert.

He is survived by his wife Michele; mother Leatrice; brother Lane; stepchildren and grandchildren.

An inurnment service will be held 11 am Saturday, June 13, 2026 at the Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Mound City, Kansas.  Online condolences can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.
