Albert Leroy "Lee" Wright, age 84, passed suddenly at home on October 20, 2023. He was born November 24, 1938, in Saint Joseph, Missouri.


Lee is survived by his loving wife of forty-four years, Helen and their children, Alan, Theresa, Cristina, Lynn, Jeff and Kellie. He is also survived by several grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Lee was preceded in death by his mother, Dortha Christie; his stepfather, William C. Wright; brothers, Ronnie and Bill; and a granddaughter, Lilly Ann.


In 1955 Lee joined the US Navy at the age of seventeen. He served his country faithfully for the next twenty years and retired in 1975. He then worked for Thompson Hayward Chemicals and later enjoyed full retirement from Superior Industries in 2001.


Lee was a longtime resident of Blue Mound, moving there from Bentonville. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW, and the Mapleton Community of Christ Church. Lee was a very loving husband, father, and grandfather throughout his life. He was a gentle, caring, and compassionate man that will be great missed by family and friends.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday November 3, 2023, at the Mapleton Community of Christ Church. Burial will be in the Fort Scott National Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, November 2, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Memorial contributions are suggested to Mapleton Community of Christ.
