Linda Kay Sylva, age 78 of Parker, Kansas, died Wednesday, October 4, 2023, in Kansas City, Kansas.


Linda was born June 30, 1945, in Bonner Springs, Kansas. She was the eighth of 11 children born to Robert Lonzo and Ethel May (Ledbetter) Summers. She attended and graduated from Wyandotte High School.


In 1963, Linda and Marion Earl Sylva were united in marriage. To this union came two sons, Jay and Brad. Linda and Marion lived in Kansas City, Kansas, until 1985 when they moved to Parker, Kansas, and built their home together from the ground up.


Linda worked for the Kansas City, Kansas, school district for 14 years until they moved to Linn County, where she started working at La Cygne Elementary and retired after 30 years of service.


In her free time, Linda enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her children and grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings.


Survivors include her husband Marion of the home; sons, Jay (Belinda) Sylva and Brad (Beverly) Sylva; sister, Kathy Grider; nine grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.


There will be a graveside service at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at the Parker Cemetery, County Road 1077 and 2000 Road, Parker, Kansas 66072.
