Linn County Democrats host candidates at annual picnic

PLEASANTON – The Linn County Democratic Party will be hosting its summer picnic on Sunday, July 19, beginning at 3 p.m. at the Pleasanton Community Center. This picnic will be indoors so as to avoid the 95 degree afternoon heat.


The public is welcome to the potluck picnic.. The party is providing pulled pork, drinks and some side dishes.


In addition to the appearance of several candidates for state and federal offices, the party will also honor the three graduates from area high schools who received scholarships this year.


According to party chair Mary Stroda, the candidates attending include:


U.S. Senate candidates:

Kevin Latz, pediatric orthopedic surgeon, latz4kansas.org

U.S. House District 2 candidate:

State Governor candidate:

State Sen. Cindy Holscher, Kansas Senate 2019 to present, cindyforkansas.com


State Board of Education:

Heather Guernsey, Chanute school board member, heatherguernseyforkansas.com


Kansas Democratic Party Chair Jeanna Repass will also be attending.
