Journal staff report

Linn and Miami counties as well as Johnson, Wyandotte and Leavenworth in Kansas and counties in eastern Missouri have been placed under a flood watch by the National Weather Service.

Multiple rounds of showers and storms on Thursday through Thursday night could cause flooding along area rivers, creeks and streams with localized flash flooding possible, according the NWS.

The watch comes as the NWS predicts an 80% chance of rain Thursday and Thursday night with as much as 1.5 inches of rain possible throughout that period. The forecast for Friday through Sunday calls for clear skies and high temperatures ranging from 68 degrees on Friday to 75 degrees on Sunday.

The watch extends through late Thursday night.
