Journal staff report

The Christmas season in Linn County kicks off this Saturday evening, Nov. 30, with events at Linn Valley and Blue Mound.

Linn Valley’s annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony is slated to begin at 5 p.m. at the Linn Valley Community Center. Festivities include a parade, tree lighting, and caroling.

Hot chocolate and cookies will be served, and a visit from from Santa is also scheduled.

The annual Blue Mound Community Merchants Dinner and drawing is also on the schedule for Saturday beginning at 4:30 p.m. with dinner in the senior center. Chili and vegetable beef soup are on the menu and free-will donations are appreciated.

Lighting of the Christmas lights on Main Street will be at 6 p.m. with a drawing at the Blue Moon following the lighting. This event will also be a great time to write letters to Santa.

Following the drawing, the Blue Moon will show “A Charlie Brown Christmas” at 7:30 p.m.
