PARKER – An Osawatomie man received injuries that authorities believe are serious after his car collided head-on with a grain truck on a gravel road three miles north of Parker just before 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening, Oct. 9.

A 2008 Lincoln passenger car driven by 22-year-old Jakobe A. Coffelt was headed southbound on Earnest Road when his vehicle topped a steep blind hill and hit a northbound 1999 Sterling semi-tractor driven by 63-year-old Robert A. Lanzrath of rural Parker.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol report, Coffelt tried to avoid striking the semi-tractor pulling a grain trailer but instead slid into the semi-tractor head-on.

Coffelt was transported to K.U. Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan. Lanzrath was not injured. Both men were wearing seat belts.
