MOUND CITY – A 28-year-old Ottawa man was taken into custody following an incident in which he allegedly struck a 50-year-old man with his car.

Clayton York is charged with aggravated battery, reckless driving and withholding information from a law enforcement office after striking Sean Sharp during an incident that was called in to Linn County dispatch at about 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 7. A preliminary report by the Linn County Sheriff’s Office indicated the Sharp was not taken to the hospital. However, the dispatch log indicated he might have suffered minor injuries.

Undersheriff Bobby Johnson said the incident was still under investigation on Friday afternoon, March 7. However, he also said that the incident probably stemmed from an altercation between the two men a week and half prior to the alleged attack.

According to the dispatch log, York left the scene after the incident but returned within a few minutes and was questioned by deputies before being taken into custody. Bond for York was set at $50,000.
