MOUND CITY – On Monday, Oct. 21, Public Works Director Shaun West presented the resignation of Planning and Zoning Director Darin Wilson to the Linn County Commissioners.

West asked that the commissioners accept Wilson’s resignation and also give him the authority to sign any building or sanitation permits until a new planning and zoning director is hired. West suggested that the position be advertised immediately.

The commissioners accepted the resignation effective Nov. 1 with Commission Chair Danny McCullough thanking Wilson for his work in the planning and zoning department.

It’s (planning and zoning) come a long ways since I first became a commissioner. I have grown to like Darin a lot and have a good relationship with him and I appreciate everything he has ever done. I know this last year was probably hard on him and his wife and his family. I just want to thank him and hope nothing but the best for him, said McCullough.

The commissioners agreed that West could sign off on the permits until a new planning and zoning director is hired.

The Journal reached out to Wilson for a comment, but he declined to discuss his resignation.
