PLEASANTON – “O Christmas Tree” is the theme of this year’s community celebration on Saturday, Dec. 14, in Pleasanton.

Vendors will be setting up in the Pleasanton Community Building, with doors set to open from 1 to 4 p.m. Concessions will also be available. The cost for a booth is $!0 and vendors who want to be part of the event can contact 913-634-2419 or go to the Christmas in Pleasanton Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/LightUpPleasanton, for more information.

From noon to 3 p.m., the HIVE library in Pleasanton will host the Merry Grinchmas program. In addition to visits with the Grinch, the library will have crafts, snacks, movies and other activities for families.

The evening events include the annual parade of lights with the lineup set to begin at 5:45 p.m. The parade begins rolling down Main Street at 6:30 p.m. Prizes for the best floats range from $25 for third place to $100 for first place.

Last year the parade had 30 entries, and organizers are shooting for 50 or more this year. To enter, contact Dillon or Annie Roberts or send an email to d.rob_70@yahool.com.

Following the parade, Mayor Mathew Young will switch on the lights of the Mayor’s Christmas Tree. Immediately following the lighting ceremony, Santa will be available for visits with children in the Pleasanton Community Building.
