Pleasanton fishing derby draws 25 young anglers

Twenty-five young anglers reeled in 140 fish during the Pleasanton Fishing Derby on Saturday, June 1, at Stegge Lake. The event sponsored by the city of Pleasanton drew plenty of adults to help the young anglers.


Wagers Alexander was on top of his game as he caught not only the first fish but the most fish as well.


The derby results underscored the efforts by the city to keep both Stegge Lake and East Lake well stocked and attractive to anglers of all ages.


Here are more of the results:

• 10 & Under – Panfish: Ezra Hall, first place; Kennel Holding, second place; Callen McCullough, third place.

• 10 & Under – Other Species: Owen Holding, first place 10 & Under – Channel: Jonah Nuzum, first place; Wagers Alexander, second place; Sophia White, third place.

• 11  & Over – Panfish: None Caught 

• 11 & Over – Other Species: Renner Hamilton, first place; Jaxx Bright, second place; Jonah Nuzum, third place. 

• 11 & Over – Channel: Jaxx Bright, first place; Renner Hamilton, second place.

• 11 & Over – Heaviest Overall Fish: Jaxx Bright
