For the second year, organizers of the Pleasanton High School prom eschewed the drive-up and walk-ins of the past, but the grand march entry at the school's gym gave families and friends a front row seat to an opening that defied the fickle April weather on Saturday, April 11.

Using a Mardi Gras festival theme, couples and singles were introduced and then walked down from the stage into the spotlight to music they had chosen for their entry. Several couples built some dancing – a dip, a spin, or some footwork – moves into their entry. The audience seemed especially pleased with that effort.

After the 37 entries made their debut, families and friends came out of the stands to greet the students. Photos were taken of the members of each PHS class before the prom-goer drifted out into gym foyer for refreshments and then made their way to the south gym where decorated tables filled the floor and a deejay played music.
For the after-prom event, students – wearing more casual clothes – loaded into a couple of buses that took them to Andretti Indoor Karting and Gaming in Overland Park for hours of activities before returning to Pleasanton in the early morning hours on Sunday.
