LINN VALLEY – While the Fourth of July will be Thursday this year, Linn Valley Lakes will roll out weekend of activities this Saturday and Sunday, July 6-7.

Of course, a big part of Independence Day celebrations are fireworks. The Linn Valley Fire Department will be operating a fireworks stand through July 5. The operating hours for the stand are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and all proceeds will go to supporting the equipment needs of the department.

On Saturday morning, a kids fishing tournament will take place at 5 Acre Lake from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Linn Valley Community Church will be serving the one-of-a-kind “Flapjacks for the 4th” Pancake Breakfast. This unique breakfast will be held at the church from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m., and a free will donation of $5 is suggested.

At 9 a.m. the farmers’ market and bake sale opens and runs until noon.

From 2 to 3 p.m. kids will be able to take part in making crafts at the clubhouse. That will be followed by bingo at 3 p.m.

The annual Independence Day parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. The parade is usually one of the largest in the area with plenty of entries and a large crowd watching. Parade line-up begins at 4:45 p.m. at Bath House No. 2.

At 9:30 on Saturday, the fireworks really begin, with an aerial display over the lake.

On Sunday, a disc golf tournament starts at 8:30 a.m.

Bingo returns to the clubhouse on Sunday beginning at 3 p.m.
