The halftime show at the regional playoff game between the Prairie Buffalos and the Parsons Vikings featured a patriotic salute to members of the United States Armed Forces. Members of American Legion Hewitt New Post No. 248 from Mound City participated in the show, which included a musical tribute to the Marines, Army, Coast Guard, Air Force and Navy.

Post members are expected help with Veterans Day ceremonies at Jayhawk-Linn and Prairie View high schools on Friday, Nov. 10, when area schools, including Pleasanton High School, will host programs honoring those who served in the military. Veterans Day is Nov. 11, a Saturday this year.

Here is the schedule for Friday's Veterans Day events:

• Pleasanton High School, 9 a.m., for all Pleasanton district students, open to the public.

• Jayhawk Linn High School, 9 a.m., open to the public.

• Jayhawk Elementary School, 2 p.m., parents and grandparents are invited.

• Prairie View at the Performing Arts Center, La Cygne and Parker schools at 9:30 a.m., high school and middle school at 1:30 p.m., open to the public.

The PVHS cheer squad and other students and staff unfurl a large U.S. flag as the band plays.
