LA CYGNE – A year ago, Mary Jane Britz, then a junior and a track and field athlete at Prairie View High School, wanted to do something to spur an interest in her sport among students up through sixth grade.
Relatively new to the area, she wanted to sponsor a track meet for the younger kids, something her family had done in the past. In short, the track meet was a success, thanks in large part to her organizing skills and the help of her family and her fellow high school athletes who pitched in to make it happen.
Britz, who last week broke the school discus record for girls, and her fellow athletes will be back at it again this Saturday, April 26, for the Second Annual Prairie View Track Meet.
The meet for Prairie View district students begins at 9 a.m. Registration can be done on line by using the QR code below or by registering at the PVHS track at 8:30 a.m. Participation is free and ribbons will be given to all participants, including place ribbons for the top six finishers in each event.
Field events begin at 9 a.m. and will continue through the morning so participants can enter running events as well. Running events begin at 10 a.m. A list of the events can be found below.
