LA CYGNE – With the beginning of the 2023-24 school year for Prairie View students now less than a month away, the Ray of Hope Foundation is sponsoring a school supply drive to provide for students during the school year. The first day of school for the district is Thursday, Aug. 15.

Donations can be dropped off at three La Cygne locations: the Southeast Kansas Community Health Centers (SEK/CHC) clinic on Market Street, the La Cygne Library or Barrett’s Auto on Kansas Highway 152 next to Stainbrook’s.

If you’re unsure what to donate, the organization will accept monetary donations that will be used to buy school supplies.

Ray of Hope is also sponsoring a free pool and pizza party for Prairie View district students and children on Friday, July 26 from 6:30 to 8:30 at the La Cygne pool.

People wishing to donate school supplies can bring them to the pool party as well.
