Once again Ray of Hope Community Impact Foundation will be holding their annual fish fry and silent auction. The event will be held Saturday, Oct. 14, at the La Cygne Library Great Room from 5 to7 p.m. Tickets may be purchased from any board member as well as at the La Cygne Library. There is limited seating, so get your tickets soon. Tickets are $15 each, kids 6 and younger are free.

The foundation was started in January of 2020 when group of individuals met to discuss what could be done to help children in the Prairie View school district. In the beginning, some of the members helped provide clothing, Christmas gifts as well as school supplies for children in foster care. It has since expanded, helping children in the Prairie View school district with needs. Current board members are Kristi Clearwater, Susan Barrett, Pam and Scott Alexander, Rick and Chris Waddell and Keith and Denise Stoker. Meetings are held monthly at the La Cygne Library.

The group has provided clothing, coats, hats, gloves, shoes, Christmas gifts, school supplies to area children. They also, along with another organization, provided the funds to build a handicap ramp for an area child. Ray of Hope has also contributed money to the Southeast Technical Academy for Rural Students (STARS) program to help purchase equipment.

Each year the group holds a spring ice cream/ bake sale to help raise funds. They also throw a back-to-school swimming and pizza party at the La Cygne pool for any kids in the Prairie View School district.

At the fish fry event, the foundation will also be selling 50/50 raffle tickets for a chance to win half the money collected. All proceeds will go towards helping children in need in our area.

Ray of Hope accepts donations of new clothing, coats and shoes. Cash donations are accepted as well.
