MOUND CITY – On Monday, June 1, Linn County Park Manager Sheri Loveland showed the commissioners pictures of the completed remodel of Cabin No. 6 at the park.
The kitchen has new cabinets and sink, and an apartment-size refrigerator was installed, the bathroom has a new black vanity and toilet, sheetrock and new flooring, new ceiling light had been installed in the cabin and also new beds, one being a queen-sized bunk bed with twin bed on top.
Loveland told the commissioners that the remodeling was started on April 7, a week later than planned, and was finished in April, a week late. Loveland said that quite a few things were not completed and the people that work for her at the park completed the tasks.
Loveland asked the commissioners about setting a price for the newly remodeled cabin. She asked if they wanted to set the price or have her do it. It was decided for her to set a price and then they would approve it and make a resolution for that.
Commissioner Jim Johnson said, “I’m good leaving it up to you as far as you know what to do.”
The remodeled cabin will be promoted on Airbnb and offers more amenties than the other cabins, which are more rustic. The cost of the remodeling contract with Darren and Jamie Shackleford was just over $16,100.
Loveland said she would like to put pictures of wildlife and the park by local photographers on the walls.
