Robert E. Stanbrough

June 11, 1953 — August 5, 2026

Ottawa, Kansas

Robert E. Stanbrough, age 73, a resident of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at AdventHealth in Ottawa.

He was born June 11, 1953, in Hawaii (or as he was happy to tell everyone, before Hawaii was a state), the son of Charlene and the late Eugene Stanbrough.

Robert graduated from Pleasanton High School in 1971 and attended Kansas State University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Agriculture in 1974.

He was known to be a daredevil in his 20s, enjoying activities such as bull riding, riding motorcycles, and hang gliding, which led to his life-changing accident in the fall of 1979. That was just one month after his marriage to Laurie, the mother of Rachel, Robert’s pride and joy! Much later, Robert met and fell in love with Theresa Davis. They were married in July 2008 in Ottawa.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, Walter E. Stanbrough. He is survived by his wife Theresa of Ottawa; daughter Rachel of Pennsylvania; mother Charlene Stanbrough of Mound City; sister Marita Vogrin of Colorado Springs; brother and sister-in-law Kevin Stanbrough Mary of Mound City; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at Ottawa Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he and his wife were members, on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 11:00am.
