A couple of Linn County farms plus another couple of operations with La Cygne addresses will be among the 15 stops on the Miami County fall farm tour this Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 19-20. The tour runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days, however, the two wineries on the tour don’t open until noon on Sunday.

One farm, Rocky Suns Farm at 10062 W. 2200 Road in rural Parker (one mile west of the Cadmus Grange on Kansas Highway 7) will also have several other Linn County producers and vendors on their site.

In addition to their wide variety of fall vegetables and farm-raised meat, the farm will be conducting hayrides, offering face painting, and having games for kids as well as a corn pit. A food tent will serve most of the day, and families can try their skills in the rope maze.

Vendors include Castle Farms Fresh Meats, Mammoth Mouth freeze-dried candy, Kayla’s Cookie Co., Sundquist Acres jewelry and cinnamon rolls, Grace & Grit resin jewelry, 3-D printed items, cat clothes and decorations, smoked meat, plus welded items. Author Rogene "Jeannie" McPherson will be there to sign her books on Saturday, and on Sunday Blue Dog Wine Co. will be offering their selections of Mound City-bottled wine.

Rocky Suns owners Dustin and Amanda Michelle have added a greenhouse over the past year with several more waiting to be put up in the off season. That means more fresh vegetables are grown earlier and later in the season. Two nights of freezing weather on Tuesday and Wednesday this week did not affect what the farm will have for sale.

Rocky Suns Farms normal weekly hours are Thursday and Friday 4:30 to 6 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. The Michelles also sell candy and gifts for the Christmas holidays.

Other area operations on the tour include Grace Heritage Farms, which is located on the Miami-Linn county line about 2 miles north of Prairie View High School on Linn County Road 1095 at 40681 Hedge Lane in rural Fontana. Operation owners Colton and Sarah Easdon sell raw goats milk, goat cheese and fudge.

Isinglass Estate Winery, located at 16241 W. 381st St, rural La Cygne (take Fourth Street/Querry Road north out of La Cygne past the Miami County line where it becomes Somerset Road and continue on to 381st) is called a “country wine resort” by owners Brandon and Sarah Vore. In addition to a wine tasting room, Isinglass boasts a restaurant and horses.

Five Mile Farms also has a rural La Cygne address, 39485 New Lancaster Road. The Price family farm prides itself on its regenerative farming practices and sells beef, chickens and eggs.

In addition to Isinglass Estate Winery, there are three other wineries on the tour.
