Solar project developer to hold information meetings this week

LA CYGNE – Clearway Energy Inc., a New Jersey-based energy company, will be hosting three public informational meetings about its proposed Swan Solar project in northeast Linn County over the next two weeks.


The first meeting will be held at the La Cygne Library from 6 to 8 p.m. this Monday, Oct. 23.


The second meeting will be at the Pleasanton Community Center from 7:30 to 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24.


And there will be a third meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1, at the 4-H Building at the fairgrounds at Mound City.


Company representatives will discuss the site and how the company plans to develop it in addition to answering questions.


According to the company’s website, Clearway is one of the largest full-service solar development and operations companies in the U.S. It owns and operates solar projects in 19 states and is in the process of developing solar projects in 17 different states.


Several of the company’s energy projects include battery storage systems. In addition to solar projects, the company also has wind-power and conventional energy projects as well. In all, it operates more than 350 projects and claims to have more than 500 landowners hosting its projects.


These informational meetings are separate from the informational meeting to be hosted by the Linn County Planning and Zoning Commission on Tuesday, Nov. 14.


Food and drink will be provide at each event hosted by Clearway Energy.
