MOUND CITY – The Linn County Justice Center will again this year have a light show honoring area veterans. Chris Martin, county information technology (IT) director, made the announcement about the special veterans program at the Linn County Commission meeting on Monday, Oct. 20.

Martin said that the display will have the names of area veterans and that people who would like to honor a military veteran go to the county website to fill out the information.

Because the information takes a while to program, the submissions for the Veteran’s Light Show need to be in by Nov. 1. People will be asked to give the veteran’s name and branch of service and if a photo is sent in that can also be used but that is optional.

The veteran’s light show will run Nov. 7 through Nov. 11 every night for 30 minutes from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The veteran’s information will be shown between the shows.

This is the second year for the veterans light show, and Martin said that last year’s \show went very well.

Martin will also be a Christmas light show beginning Nov. 21, the Friday before Thanksgiving and run through the Christmas season.

The lights were being installed on Thursday, Oct. 24, by Martin, Deputy Klayton Parscale, and Becky Self. Self, who is working to earn her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Oklahoma City University, was helping to fulfill a community service requirement for her degree.

Martin said that the music and light show will be completely different this year.
