Pleasanton High School athletes turned in good performances at the Kansas State Championship Track and Field Meet on Friday and Saturday, May 29-30. Two boys had top-10 finishes in three events and the girls relay team broke a school record.

junior Aiden Patrick accounted for two of those finishes, placing third in the high jump and sixth in the 100-meter dash.

Patrick’s leap of 6 feet 4 inches was 2 inches higher than his jump of 6-2 at the Class 1A regional meet that earned him a tie for the championship.

He turned in a 11.21 second time in the finals of the 100-meter dash. That was 0.29 seconds faster than his 11.50 time at regional a week earlier.

The girls 4x100 relay team of Makaila Thomas, MaKya Neal-Cox, Maria Neal-Cox, and Willow Skipper set a new school record at the state meet with a time of 52.13. However, they needed to beat the time of 51.63 to qualify for finals.

Senior Ashlan George cleared 8-6 in the pole vault with five other competitors but needed a vault of at least 9-0 to make the final round.
