On Thursday, Sept. 25, the staff at Prairie View had its hands full as the district hosted cross country, middle grades football and volleyball and finally a volleyball match with the Pleasanton Blu-Jays.

The Lady Blu-Jays were looking for a big win and were hungry.  Prairie View is building and feel they have an upgraded team. Being a singles match, they were set for a best out of five matchup.

The stage was set for a few fireworks. Pleasanton started the first set and kept pace with everything the Buffaloes could throw at them.

Led by Ashlan George, the Blu-Jays fought hard. Then the strength of the Buffaloes went to work and started pulling ahead.

Grace Cullor, Gabrianna Cullor and Lauren Steenburgen started a hitting clinic that put a halt to the Blu-Jays efforts. The Buffaloes finished with a score of 25 – 13.

Stage two of the slugfest began. Again, led by Ashlan George, the Blu-Jays wanted to show they could hit and play as well as anyone. Yet, once again, the Buffaloes showed that they had stamina as well as power.

Every attempt by the Blu-Jays to close the score difference was met firmly and halted. Thus, the Buffaloes pulled away and closed the second set with a 25 – 15 score.

The Blu-Jays went into the third set knowing they had to win, or the match was over. The set began, just like the first two sets. The two teams were back and forth with the Blu-Jays keeping up with the Buffaloes. Despite the effort, The Buffaloes proved themselves too strong. Even though the Blu-Jays fought hard the whole set, the Buffaloes pulled out the set with a 25-17 win and the match.
